TIP OF
THE MONTH
September
2011
Hello from Creston, BC,
Canada
I came up here for a
little R and R and to
visit my niece, Maureen
and her extended family.
The weather and the
panning for gold was
just great. When I’m
home in L. A., they
kinda keep track of me
by phone and my website.
Recently, I have been
made aware that many of
those who visit my
website for a first time
look-see have never gone
farther down the
Audio/Video page … to
the Audio part … which
appears to nullified my
attempt to bring
attention to it, by
putting “Audio” up
first! Aaaaaagghh! (Per
“webstat”) From almost
everyone, the words were
“… I got so caught up in
the wonderful videos … I
forgot about …!” and the
Audio was not visited!
Well … there is
indeed an Audio
portion of the page … on
the second half, It was
painstakingly and
artfully put together by
my Audio Engineer and
Computer Whiz, Henri
Campo!
If you persevere, for
instance, you might find
yourself listening to
songs from a few of the
twenty-some musicals
that weren’t video
taped, some with only
the pirate tape
available. You might
enjoy songs from The
Unsinkable
Molly Brown,
particularly the “ Cabin
scene” … with
spectacular Ruta Lee and
I doing some of the
dialogue, followed by
the beautiful Meredith
Wilson song, I’ll
Never Say No to You!
Not incidentally, this
was the first
performance of the show
in Summer Stock at the
Casa Manana, in Ft.
Worth, TX, after which
Meredith asked Ruta,
“Where were you when I
was casting the show in
New York?”
There are songs from
Annie Get Your Gun,
The Girl that I
Marry, and My
Defences are Down;
Kismet … The
Olive Tree
and Fate and
The Soliloquy from
Carousel.
There is also
magnificent music from
my Lerner and Loewe
Concert, from the
shows, Brigadoon,
Paint Your Wagon,
Camelot, Gigi and My
Fair Lady!
For those perhaps, “of
longer tooth” and those
with an adventuresome
spirit, there is “Live
from my Met debut” in
Thais, w/Beverly
Sills;
Voila donc la terrible
cite’ …
Also from the Met:
Scintille diamant … from
Tales of Hoffman, in the
original high key.
*The role is not
normally sung by a
baritone, but since I
had/have both the high
and low notes …Pescator
… and O Monumento from
La Gioconda.
From the stage of the
New York City Opera:
O Elvira …. Ah, per
sempre … from I Puritani
Eri tu … from un Ballo
in Maschera
Nemico della partria …
from Andrea Chenier
Vieni del mio … from
Lucretia Borgia
And
The Te Deum from Tosca,
with a good portion of
the second act duet,
with the powerful voiced
Pamela Kucenic, from
Taipei, Taiwan.
I feel I should
apologize for the
blinking NEW FEATURE at
the lower-left of my
home page. Shortly after
its inauguration, I
found I had a big
squamish cell cancer in
my upper left lung …
which was out on the
table a week later. The
radiation played havoc
with my lungs … but I’m
cancer free and my cords
are just terrific! When
I stop this residual
coughing … I will resume
the afore mentioned
plan!
